Corsages and Bouttonaires

Corsages and Bouttonaires

Corsages are a small number of flowers put together in a fashion that they can be pinned to the lapels of clothes or tied around the wrist (meant specifically for women). Boutonnieres are relatively smaller in size, often sporting one or a couple of flowers; they are to be worn, similarly, on the lapel (meant specifically for men).

Corsages and boutonnieres are generally used in wedding settings. Interestingly enough, there exists no limit as to who can wear either, be it the groom or the bride or both or members of their families, the corsages and boutonnieres do not discriminate. It is, essentially, down to the pair joining in matrimony to pick who gets to sport either of the two. There are instances when the bride and groom, in an effort to involve their guests and appreciate their presence, set up self- help corsage/boutonniere stations for the guests to make one for themselves.

Picking the right flowers, however, makes all the difference. Here’s what you can keep an eye out for:

  1. Always go with your favorite flowers.
  2. If the former is a pricier option, go for in-season flowers.
  3. It doesn’t matter if the flowers don’t match; the distinctive combinations give off a unique look and appear beautiful, regardless.
  4. Have a heart to heart with your florist, well in advance, about the color combinations from the big day including the wedding dresses to avoid the stress and the last minute hassle.
  5. The boutonnieres/ corsages can be preserved as keepsakes for you to look back at and relive the big day.

These corsages can then be sported in a couple of different ways completely depending on your preference; go with your heart! Here are a few ways you can pick from:

  1. Can be pinned to a lapel on dresses with sleeves.
  2. Can be worn on the cuff if the option of chest corsages isn’t doable.
  3. Last but not least, one can simply just hold them if you wish to do so (and appear trendy as well!)

Let us know how you put your fun little twists on all these!
